Last minute bachelor party in Calgary?

  • 7

Any recommendations for a place that will be able to accommodate 10 - 15 people this Sat. night? They don't want "stuffy" but not divey either......

  1. What are they planning on doing - just dinner, or do they want more? Want a private room, or sitting with the "public"?

My suggestion would be someplace like E8ght + Mercury. They can have a nice meal in a modern atmosphere, and then move over to the club and drink and dance and hang out.

If it's just dinner, let us know and there'll be a slew of other recommandations.

It's just dinner, in between some paintball and strippers if you can believe it! The drinking portion of the evening will start at dinner...so a beer menu etc... would be nice.

I was kind of thinking an upscale pub kind of place, if one exists.....

    2. When you mentioned upscale pub, i thought of the James Joyce on 4th, which is nice and has decent pub food, but isn't really all that special.

I'd suggest Velvet at the Grand Theatre. It's a beautiful room, and usually not too busy, so if you call ahead, they should have no problem accommodating you. On friday and saturday evgs, they have djs to add to the atmosphere (full disclosure: i'm the friday night dj). it's owned by the same people who do Divino and Cilantro. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is great.

It sounds like Belgo might be what you're looking for. Great beer list, servers in short skirts (female), and lots of seating to accomodate larger groups.

Yup....I was thinking James Joyce too.... but thought they could do better....and so threw out Belgo...... they chose Joyce!

          Thanks for everyone's recs......

Velvet sounds nice to check out in the future....

        2. how rowdy is this bunch? That largely determines what venue will suit. If they are the paintball-stripper crew, I am guessing Velvet wouldn't be their cup of tea.

          1. I would recommend Vintage...it is arguably the best Chop House in town.
