New place in Chico

The old Nile Cafe in Chico has transformed into Annie's Asian Grill. Simple decor, not a lot of flash, but a welcome addition to the local fare. The menu has the usual Japanese-style features - teriyaki combinations, sushi, gyoza, tempura. But there is a section of Korean style grilled items - Gal Bi (shortribs), Bul Go Ki (beef strips) and others. These are well seasoned and well prepared, and lead off by small (not mentioned on the menu) starters - seasoned soy sprouts, sesame spinach, marinated black soy beans, and kim chee.
Plus Sapporo and Asahi long necks. Patio seating available. Relaxed atmosphere, good staffing.

I am not familar with the Nile Cafe, so can you tell me where Annie's Asian Grill is located? It sounds like it could be a great addition to the food scene in Chico.

      Sorry -

      Annie's Asian Grill
      243 W. 9th Street
      Chico, CA 95928

My wife enjoyed a few vegetarian items...but I have no idead what they were beyond miso soup and some tofu dish.
My son (a student at CS) goes there regularly for a udon/shrimp tempura fix.

We had dinner last evening at Annie's Asian Grill. What a wonderful find!
We share a California Roll, potstickers, my husband had the spicy chicken, which you wrap in lettuce leafs (which was fantastic and spicy), I had the vegetarian sobu noodles, which was a great choice. You can eat inside or outside on the patio. Delicious food and very reasonably priced. Great find. Thank you.

denada - and please keep a look out for new places in Chico... since my son will be up there for a couple more years, and I'm always looking for new and interesting restaurants.

Try Grilla Bites, two location, one downtown or the other and much better location on Cohasset Road. Excellent salad bar, both vegetarian and meat sandwiches for lunch or entrees for dinner. They also have a restaurant in Ashland and Medford.

If you like Indian food, try Priya on Esplanade (in the old Grayatip Thai restaurant). They have a tasty buffet with lots of meat & vegetarian dishes along with warm naan bread.
