Birthday party for 20 in Greenpoint/LIC area

Looking to have a birthday dinner for my daughter's 21st birthday. Will be 20-25 people. Would like a private room or area. Wednesday night, May 16th.
Any suggestions?

  1. pio pio riko, on manhattan ave in greenpoint, is a peruvian restaurant with a large back dining room that they use for parties. we had a birthday party for about 15 there a while back, and the staff couldn't have been nicer.

    1. Our special event restaurant is Manducatis in LIC. There are 3 dining rooms, and you can get privacy in the 3rd room. Call and speak with Vincent or Anthony.

      1. Manetta's, also in LIC, has great wood burning oven pizza, pastas etc, and often have partys. They could also easily accomodate you-- Agreed on Manducati's as well, tho that would be the priciest option of those discussed thus far.

        1. A little further afield, but the Bohemian Beer Garden in Astoria is great for things like permitting. They have an outdoor area with picnic tables that is the size of a whole city block. We threw a surprise birthday party there for a good friend of mine for 30+ people, and all it took was someone arriving a half hour earlier and staking out a couple of picnic tables for the group. They have a grill and serve the usual suspects, burgers and hot dogs...and really excellent Polish sausage. Wonderful beer selection also. It was a great choice for us because not everyone arrived at the same time, large groups never do, and it was a nice casual atmosphere. As the group dwindled down we moved indoors and grabbed a booth for the last 8 of us.

The Bohemian Beer Garden sounds perfect. Also, perhaps Paloma on Greenpoint between Franklin and West?

I should also add that I made 4 dozen cupcakes for the occasion, and they didn't bat an eyelash about me bringing in "outside food" for the party, which was really nice. I made sure to save some for our servers.

that's important. i've found that many places won't let you bring stuff in or charge a per person fee. it's their business, of course, but it's nice when you can get exactly what you want for a special occasion. pio pio riko let me bring a cake, and our server took it and brought it back nicely cut and plated.

what's paloma's food like? i live right there but have never been, and it's pricey enough that i haven't felt like experimenting.

I would call it "posh-American" -- similar to what Diner, Dumont, Moto has. I've had the roast chicken and mussels, both nice.

I need to recommend La Vuelta in Long Island City - they were SO incredibly accomodating to my birthday party of 24! People! I swear, they even let me bring in my own cake and cut/candled it without charging, they brought all the food out at the same time, they served us drinks inside and outside and put it all on one tab, they brought us pitcher after pitcher of sangria, and the whole shebang came to about $40 a head. It was amazing.

I'd recommend them to everyone, OH, and the food was lovely, too!
