MSP Is anyone doing Dining Out For Life on Thursday?

My new girlfriend wants to go out on Thursday since it benefits charity, the Aliveness project in south MPLS. http://www.aliveness.org

There are many places participating but I don't know which one to pick. I don't even know what I'm in the mood for. We've already done Thai and Japanese so I'm thinking maybe something non-Asian.

So, does anyone else have plans to go out on Thursday, April 26th? Where are you going?

  1. I'm going out of town on Thursday, so I can't Dine Out For Life - though I might be able to swing by Cupcake for some treats on my way to I-94.

I wouldn't bother with the expensive places at the Bronze level. (C'mon, jP American bistro - surely you can do better than 10%!)

There are a lot of good bets at the Platinum level. If I were here, I would probably go to El Meson, Mairin's Table, Birchwood, or Khyber Pass. Or maybe I'd try a place I haven't been, like First Course, PI Bar, Temple (pan-Asian), or Yum!.

This is a really popular event, and reservations at most places that take them have are filling up fast. I waited until today to make a reservation, and the only place that worked for a group of 5 at the time I needed was Solera. Nothing wrong with that -- we can rack up a big bill there -- but I would have preferred a pricy place in a higher contribution bracket.

    2. We are for sure, and at one of the Platinum Level restaurants. I haven't had the lamb ribs at Firelake in awhile and I have a hankerin! I smell a wood fire in my future...or cranberry wontons.

      1. I am now - thanks for posting the link.

I'm thinking Carmellos on Snelling - haven't been in ages. And I'll be in St Paul that eve.

        1. We're going to the Black Forest Inn, it's bronze 15%. http://www.blackforestinnmpls.com/ My girl is German-American and really wants to speak German and I really want some beer and black forest cake.

If you're really bent on helping charity, many gay establishments are giving 100%.

          1. I highly recommend Kafe 421 in Dinkytown!
