On the Red Velvet Prowl*

Anyone know where I can find some kick butt Red Velvet cake or cupcakes in Northern NJ? My favorite thus far is from 2 different places. The cream cheese frosting from Buttercup Bake shop in NYC and the cake part from Amy's Bread in NYC. Billy's Bakery is pretty darn delish too~

In Montclair, 2 places will make you awesome Red Velvet: Meema's Country Desserts 107 Pine Street, (973-783-0100) Everything they make is awesome and home made - not standard bakery fare...Also, Gina's Panificio on Walnut Street.

I heard that Belly Full in Edgewater, a Caribbean place has awesome Red Velvet! I am heading there this wknd if i can....~

Well it's not Northern NJ but since nobody's replied so far, I'd tell you that I had some very good homemade red velvet cake at Restaurant X in Congers (Rockland). It was actually dyed with beet juice which the waitress said is the "correct" way to make it. I'm not sure if it was a special or if it's always on the menu so you might call ahead if you go there.
