And just in time, since I just finished the last of my Beamish cache. Now I just have to find a local pub that carries Carlsberg brand products.

This gets me to wondering: do the Irish chain restaurants (Fado, Sine, et al) have an exclusive deal with Guinness that would prevent them from carrying Beamish? I know much was made of the Guinness/Irish pub "synergy," so maybe it's like not being able to get Coke AND Pepsi in the same fast food place.

Actually, they had announced the Carlsberg deal a few months ago, and, according to this article http://www.barkeeper.ie/News_Item.asp?News_ID=556 they were trying to roll it out in the major metro areas by St. Patrick's Day. Haven't seen the draft, but the nitro cans have been on the shelves in NJ for at least a few weeks now.

The odd thing about it is that Beamish's parent company, Scottish & Newcastle, also have a US based importing company, but choose to drop Beamish and a few others beers and concentrate on Newcastle Brown Ale. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m3469/is_8_57/ai_n16103004

Seems to me that the importing company, Carlsberg USA is a relatively new presence in the US (after years of contract brewed Carlsberg (in Canada) and domestic Tuborg), so I guess they're trying to broaden their portfolio of beers to offer to local distributors. Their website is still under construction- http://www.carlsbergmerchandise.com/ but an e-mail address might yield some info on when you'll see Beamish hit the shelves.

My understanding was that Scottish & Newcastle dumped Beamish to focus on it's "core" brand, but not being a fan of Newcastle Brown, I think it's a mistake. Since Guinness has the lion's share of the Irish stout market in the U.S., I can't really blame them for abandoning the market.

Here in DC, I've only found a single place that has Beamish on tap. I hope they get back on the regular distribution.

I can only find Carlsberg or Tuborg in the grocery stores. Never seen them on tap. I only hope their marketing plans are better thought-out than their website. That Flash has gotta go.
