Birthday dinner in/around Lenox

Bookistan Apr 23, 2007 06:50 AM

Hi, I'm looking for recs for a great birthday dinner in a couple of weeks. John Andrews is a possibility; we've never been there but have read good reviews. Anything else comparable? I'm looking for great food, good service, and hopefully, a lively atmosphere (nothing stodgy or too formal). Price is not an issue. Thanks in adance for all ideas.

John Andrews is really good, so that's not a bad choice. My favorite place in the Berkshires however is still Old Inn on the Green. Peter Platt is an incredible chef, and the dinning room is really great. No electricity, just candles and fire places. The servers are professional without being stogy. It is a bit of a drive from Lenox, but no more so than JA. It's a really special place.
