Meeting a date in between where we work, so where do you guys recommend? Somewhere close to half the distance, ie Menlo Park or a bit further north.

Open to all kinds of food, but something more on the casual side please.

Thanks in advance.

I'm a fan of Zibbibo in Palo Alto (on Kipling right off University). They have had a chef change many months ago and the food is now wonderful. They have a great bar and there's a really nice atmosphere inside. For a date, it's a nice scene if you want something more fancy than a salad or sandwhich at a cafe (though Zibbibo is still casual).

Another favorite is Bistro Elan on California Ave in PA. Really wonderful food, a more quiet atmosphere and nice wine list.

Bistro Elan is a good place to go, I don't think I'd take someone on a date to Printer's Ink. I like it, but it's just a coffeeshop.

You might also try Tamarine in downtown Palo Alto, a nice fusion Vietnamese cuisine.

Also, further north, I'd try New Kapodokia in Redwood City. Really good Turkish food, nice family-run place.
