le gourmet shawarma cafe on yonge north of lawrence

  • 7

Has anyone tried anything at Le Gourmet Shawarma Cafe? I'm happy that a take-out resto with healthy options has finally moved into the neighbourhood.

  1. I tried it about 2 months ago and was not that impressed Don't see a lot of activity and I question the freshness. Although a bit of a drive, Yakamoz, on Wilson, across from Bagel World is way better, much busier and has a way better selection. Have tried the kabobs, schwarma, falafel and about 8 different dips/salads and have not been disapointed at all.

      Thanks Robb...
and thanks for the tip re: Yakamoz. I was actually wondering about Yakamoz last time I was on Wilson...will check them out, hopefully sooner than later.

Have you tried Ciccio's on Yonge just south of Cranbrooke beside Mama's. Never had the sanwiches but we pick up pasta, salad and soup ( pasta fagoli) often. Very good, fresh food, generous portions and very reasonable.

No...I haven't tried Ciccio yet, I've been meaning to try their sandwiches, but I'll remember to check out their other stuff when I stop by. Sounds great!

          Hi Robb,
Just wanted to thank you fo the tip on Yakamoz on Wilson. I love the seasoning on their shawarma.

      2. I had a shawarma there and thought it was very good, and surprisingly inexpensive considering the area. It was something like 5 bucks and packed full of chicken so I suggest you at least try it if it's in a convenient location for you.

Ciccio makes VERY GOOD veal sandwiches. Not quite as good as Vinnie's on Dupont (the best IMO) but very good flavour.
