Was it a ceviche looking place?

Could be, but ceviche's always a dissociative order. Good places make it bad, and bad places make it good.

since alfajores comes in many styles, some of which i like, some of which i don't -- can you please tell me if this is the shortbread cookie with dulce de leche and powdered sugar, or the puffier kind that often has coconut on it?

the best alfajores i've had were from a tacqueria in SF. i miss them, but have not yet found any in NY of the style i like. to my fault, i haven't searched in a few years, so i'm out of date.

      thanks,
      alekz

this is the shortbread style, and the best lardless example I've found. Of course, everything's better with lard.
