Kansas City Hot dogs?

There was a really good Hot dog place in Merriam called Zahm's, but the owner fell ill a year ago and shut the place down. Now I only know of one Hot Dog place in the city but they use Vienna Beef Dogs, which I find pretty objectionable in flavor. Does anyone have a great place to get a hot dog in KC these days?

We ended up getting one at the deli at the River Market. Certainly not as good as Zahm's was, but not bad.

I know that the Peanut on Main has hot dogs- not sure if all of the locations do or not, but it was pretty big! The ones at Hoopers are great too.
On Saturdays the Johnny's at 83rd and Mission has a hot dog menu. Hope that helps!

Ah yes! Good ol' Zahm's ! He got his hot dogs at Fritz's on Metcalf. The owner told me himself we he first opened the place.

Is there a Fritz's on Metcalf? The only one I know of is at State Line and 103rd.

I deserve a big slap across the back of my head. Yes it's on State Line, right next door to Gates.

Believe it or not, we've actually discussed hot dogs fairly recently, although this discussion was centralized on Johnson County: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/37088... I'm afraid it's not something I really would seek out, so I'm not much help. The vendor at the OP farmers market has wonderful brats and sausages, but not sure about hot dogs.

Charlie Hooper's in Brookside has a hot dog section of their menu and Saturday is dog day. Nothing extraordinary but it will have to do until a replacement for Relish appears.
