Pls help bring it together

I am cooking dinner for some friends tonight. One is pregnant and a vegetarian (but she eats fish). The other is on a migraine diet that doesn't allow her to eat cheese and citrus among other things. I have in my mind some kind of pasta dish with shrimps, scallops and squid. I'm thinking more of a garlic, olive oil with fish broth finish, but I'm having trouble making it congeal in my head. Any ideas?

  1. Not too much garlic, and how about some saffron?

    1. Try a simple concept of fresh julienned vegetables along with your other ingredients. Saute a little anchovy and garlic in olive oil before adding other ingredients. This will give you a subtle (don't use too much) flavor with a rustic Italian feel. Good Luck!

      1. Add shallots, arugula (or watercress) and some quartered grape tomatoes (can your friend with the migraines have these) to your idea.

        I'd sautee the shallots in the olive oil until tender, then add garlic for a minute. Add broth and reduce just a bit. Add seafood and tomatoes. Cook til seafood is just about done. Throw in arugula or watercress and finish cooking off seafood. This will give time for greens to wilt just a bit. Add a bit of crushed red pepper flakes if you like. Add pasta and serve. Can sub baby spinach also for the arugula.

        1. You might want to double-check with your pregnant vegetarian friend. Some pregnant women don't eat shellfish because of viral/mercury concerns.
