I'm feeling un-inspired! Recs for a downtown place with Lavagna-ish vibe, but not Lavagna, or necessarily Italian???

So, there's this girl...you all know the story. I want to go somewhere I haven't been before, and I was thinking maybe of Aroma, but I've read mixed reviews on the food. Just want it to be casual, relaxed, and tasty...any cuisine is fine, but no sushi. Somewhere downtown, east or west, doesn't matter.

For Italian, Crispo, Apizz, Po, Enoteca Barbone (although it's been some time since my last visit)
Otherwise: Little Owl (if you can get in), The Orchard, Tides, Azul Bistro, Clinton St. Baking Co., Pylos, Snack Taverna... you have a lot of options!
