Does anyone know why they are closed for business?

Lack of money to pay bills, I think. They got a new owner 2 years ago and I think it became a little overwhelming.

Someone must know something.. I was to have a party there in May and it seems they have run away with my substantial deposit, to say nothing of looking for another place to have a party 2 weeks before the event. Any suggestions??

As far as recovering your deposit, I would contact the Attorney General's Office.
For another party place in the area I would recommend Rory Dolan's.

Hopefully you gave them your deposit by credit card. If you did, call your credit card company and they should be able to give you your money back.

If not, follow the other advice and use a credit card next time.

My husband saw a sign in front of the restaurant today, " to our loyal customers we will be opening soon" the sign went up recently.

We've heard that "Mannion" is coming back.

JJ Mannion's is open again and Jim Mannion owns it.

Regrettably, Jimmy Mannion sold the business to people who turned out to be very poor businessmen, and even poorer men of honor. They ran out leaving the place and reputation in shambles. Mr. Mannion has recently reopened and has begun to restore the place to its former glory and name. If you ever choose to do so, you should consider going back there - Mr. Mannion was NOT the one responsible for the loss of your deposit and should be given a second chance. Things are improving there again.

I went there in July and there are new owners! We had the steak and the salmon along with home fries and creamed spinach. it was really , really good.

This place should be closed. Have re-opened under a new name, but obviously no one is fooled...place is always empty. The food is average and overpriced...sirloin steak is 39$ and doesn't even include a vegetable or potato. Avoid this place.

Try it again -- Mannions was sold a while back and the then new owners wrecked it in what seems like record time. Mannions family took it back, ran it for while and now recently sold it to a partnership with very highly rated NYC experienced folks working for them. Food is excellent - as good as manhattan and in many cases better than.
