First time for dinner at Magnolias last night and we were pleasantly surprised. Well prepared food, great fish, the prime rib was a little on the rare side but okayand a very large and delicious bourbon pecan pie. Only complaint was the waiter who obviously rushed us through the meal. Immediately came to table for our order then came back 2 other times within five minutes (it was only7:30pm). The place was not very crowded our entrees were out in about 10 minutes. Wondering if this is not the place to go if you want to linger?

seems strange, especially as it wasn't busy. Maybe just an inexperienced waiter?

I haven't been to magnolia's in years. I used to go there strictly for their oysters, but now Asheville has other options in that arena. Now for some reason it kinda gives me the heebie-jeebies. Sounds like your waiter used to work at a place like olive garden (turn and burn style dining).

Magnolia's was one of my favorites in Asheville about 6 or 7 years ago. However, BOTH the food quality and the service have fallen sadly behind. As a result, there are few customers remaining. I expect the restaurant will close within a year or two.

By the looks of the crowd when we were there, I'd agree. They had a large group from some corporation but other than that only two other tables and a few people in the bar area.
