FiDi Tonight - Child / Veg Friendly

The Dive Apr 18, 2007 05:33 PM

I need a place tonight at approx 8 p.m. for a group of five (one two-year old child) in which two will be eating dinner and the other two (vegetarians) will be drinking and having a light snack. Proximity to Hotel Vitale a plus. Off the top of my head (and a quick glance at opentable), I thougth of MarketBar, Shanghai 1930 and One Market, but not positve about the kid-friendliness of those places. For the life of me I can't think of anything casual downtown that would work. Any suggestions?

We went to MarketBar, which worked out fine. We were able to walk in at 7:45 and get a table for four/five. Had the $35 prix fix meal, which was a good deal, but nothing spectacular (the braised pork shoulder was the hightlight). It was a good spot for kids, as the tables are covered with white paper and if you ask they will give you crayons. Altogether, worked out great.

I work in the area, and places I like to go would include Ozumo (much better than Shanghai 1930) - it is a bit loud, which would make it child friendly in my mind - I think there are some items that might work on the menu.

Over in the Ferry Building if Mistral is still open, that would fit the bill. Also MarketBar is OK, nothing special.

Town Hall is a short walk, also fairly loud but lots of comfort food (vegetarian, not sure)...

This is all after 8 PM so presumeably you found something already...
