Firefly since March 2007?

Has anyone been to Firefly since the new chef started? Any thoughts?

I was there two nights ago for dinner and thought the food was good, but not great. We had all small plates. The goat cheese appetizer and veal meatballs were wonderful, but the shrimp and grits were pretty tasteless and teh grits were undercooked. The atmosphere is very nice, but VERY loud. I would also not recommend going at peak hours, the wait for service was slow.

These are all kind of new things to the menu, the small plates were an introduction towards the end of Wabek's tenure there. I really wish they hadn't ever done that. The volume is odd there- if you sit up front it's not as loud as when you get further back.

We've been there twice now- once for brunch which was very good and once for dinner which was also very good. We didn't stray far from the original items on the menu that have just about always been on that menu, but the quality is still there. If you have the chance you want to get "D" as your waiter. He's probably the most aware waiter in there and understands the food better than a lot of the folks who have been through there. I generally ask to be in his section.

Thank you so much. Sounds like I can take a chance and try it out.

I'm not sure I'm ready to put it back into regular rotation yet, but it's worth a shot. That said, if it's your one nice dinner a quarter I'd go elsewhere at this point just because I'm not that confident with them yet.

What on the menu would everyone recommend now? Just a regular dinner - not all out.

The minute steak is excellent, it's been a constant favorite. They keep pulling the mac and cheese on and off the menu, but when it's on there, get it. Any oyster preparation, fried or half shell you'll be good with there.

I'd be interested to know too, I've driven by there a bunch of times but just had a chance to stop and go in.
