Who's the best for shipping chiles?

I'd really appreciate any recs on farmers/co-ops/companies/whomever that ship fresh red and green chiles.

We've loved N.M. the times we've been there, and I can make a credible red chile sauce from dried chiles from our local market, but I'd love to roast my own green and red.

Thanks in advance

  1. Mike, Down around Hatch there several shops that will send UPS or FedEx. One of them we shopped at was Hatch Chile Express and I recall they had a website.. I don't know how far you live from east Mesa but Guadalupe Farmers Market, on Power Rd, just south of Elliot sells bags of New Mexico chile's both roasted and unroasted. Good luck.

    1. I would not use USPS again but... I have to say that my dad (from NM) once mailed me a big box of fresh green chile. The post office in Austin called me when they were closed and said I could come and pick up the box even though they were closed. They said it smelled so good they new I must be looking forward to it! I opened the box there and handed them a couple big hand fulls. I explained how to roast them. So I did have FANTASTIC service from USPS that one time... but wouldn't risk it again!
