recipe needed for half sheet cake pan!
I am making a book cake using a half sheet pan and I need a cake recipe half vanilla and half chocolate in the same pan. Do you have any good recipes?
Also I saw the recipe "Fantastic vanilla buttercream" , my question is: this buttercream should be refrigerated or can I leave the iced cake outside. and if so for how long?
Why don't you make two 1/4 sheet pan cakes, one of each flavor then sandwich them together with a thin layer of the buttercream? As for the buttercream, I'm not certain as to which recipe you are referring to, but unless the temperature is very, very warm, you should be able to leave the cake out at room temp comfortably for the day. I baked a wedding cake covered with the brides request for buttercream, and as it happened the venue moved to outside from inside - pukey hot August weather - over 80 F. The cake rested in an indoor foyer, but the doors were wide open to the outside.I was a total wreck until the cake was cut and served.....intact. Luckily I had super-chilled the cake overnight and the buttercream didn't die. Maybe another hour or so and there would have been a big mess of a cake.
