Da Ping Huo -- It was fabulous!!!

Oh my God! I had that meal about a month ago, but I'm still thinking about it. It was hands down the best Sichuan meal I've had so far (I'm from New York).
Composed of 13 courses (alternating between spicy and non-spicy), I was so full that you had to roll me out of the restaurant. I'm doing the best from my memory as I don't take notes when I eat (can't enjoy my meal when I take notes). Here's what we had:
1. shredded carrots and celery in a spicy sauce -- laced with sichuan peppercorns, this was the perfect start to the evening
2. cucumbers in a vinegar-sugar-soy sauce mixture -- quite refreshing and tart; on the sweet side; there was a layer of granulated sugar on the bottom; would have liked it more except not a fan of cucumbers
3. noodles in spicy sauce with peanuts -- i think the noodles were made of acorn starch; on top were deep-fried soybeans, the perfect complement to the slippery noodles; was the second spiciest dish of the evening; my mouth was tingling big time after this dish
4. cold gingko nuts and preserved vegetable sprinkled with sesame seeds -- a welcome non-spicy addition after those glass noodles
5. chicken with peanuts -- it was served in a spicy, complex sweet sauce
6. soup with ground pork, turnips -- flavorful, homey and very comforting
7. beef stew with chiles and cilantro -- even though the stew came with huge peppers, it wasn't that spicy; was good, but there were huge hunks of fat on the beef that I wasn't too crazy about
8. braised pork belly with sweet potato -- i'm so glad that i ate this. If I saw this on the menu, I probably wouldn't have ordered it. I've never eaten anything like it -- slightly sweet, with good old porkiness
9. chicken with garlic -- spicy, replete of braised garlic; this dish was more of a subtle spicy than "in-your-face" Sichuan spiciness
10. mabo tofu -- the best I've ever had! and it was the spiciest I've had! so complex with varying layers of flavor. This was the spiciest dish of the evening.
11. soup -- ah, heaven. sorely needed to cool my stomach after the mabo tofu. it was a few vegetables in a pork broth.
12. sichuan dumplings -- served in a chili, ground bean sauce, it was a great rendition of the dish. i was so full, though. i couldn't wait until the meal ended.
13. dessert soup -- i'm not sure what it is. it was pretty gelatinous and very sweet. While the sweetness helped tame my spicy stomach, it was a bit too one-dimensional for my taste.

It's located on the Central side of Hong Kong. 49-51 Hollywood Road. Reservations are a must. THey only have two seatings, the first one at 6:30P. The reason why they only have two sittings is that the chef sings opera at the end. Very unique and entertaining. The # is 852 2559 1317.
