Drive to Charleston or at least to Hilton Head, although there may be a few good local spots in Georgetown.

I wish people wouldn't post if they don't know a thing about the geography of the area. Despite what some on this board might say, there is edible food to be found in South Carolina outside of Charleston.

If you are staying in Conway there are decent restaurants in the area, mainly over towards Myrtle Beach. It is a tourist hole but there are a few decent places to eat around. I had a lunch that was at a rest. right on the river in Conway a year or so ago that was really quite good. I don't remember the name of it...maybe someone else could way in. I'm sure there are other BBQ joints or diners close by as well that would serve you well for breakfast or lunch.

Do not bother driving 1 1/2 hours to Chas. and certainly don't drive all the way to Hilton Head (which would be further than Chas. despite the implications of the last post). Charleston has great food without a doubt but driving all the way there for one meal would be a bit over the top.

I agree with GrillMaster. I live in Myrtle Beach. I know we are a tourist town, so what. We have some very good places to dine without having to drive about 5 hours round trip to Charleston. Do you like good italian? Try Luigi at 503 61st Ave North. That would be be off of Hwy 17 South, (Kings Hwy). You won't find any greek style at Lugi's. It's the real deal. Like seafood try, Bonefish Grill. If you would like a good steak, try Chuck's at 9695 N Kings Hwy (Hwy 17 S.) A new place that's getting excellent reviews is UMI Pacific Grill, again right off Hwy 17 South Business (N Kings Hwy). Hope this helps. We have some great places to dine whatever your buget.

There is undoubtedly edible food elsewhere in SC.
Also I was in Georgetown, Conway, and oh-so-happening Loris just last month!

Rivertown Bistro in downtown Conway has not disappointed, the last meal I got there was a parmesan roasted chicken with a country ham sauce, and a mac and cheese noodle cake. Very good. In Georgetown we like the Rice Paddy, a restaurant in an old bank. Umi Pacific Grill in Myrtle Beach is new, and we have had some good meals there.
PS I am a chowhounder from oh so happening Loris. :-)

Does anyone have a suggestion for restaurant that will deliver sandwiches or other lunch items for a business meeting I have in Conway?

Two great cheap places in conway are Flamers Burgers and Chicken which is a small chain but the food is great and you cant beat the prices It is right in the heart of conway on 4th ave i believe you cant miss it just look for the place with the line out the door. I would also say try Olivers it has been around forever amazing hamburgers and hot dogs and even better service. Olivers is on 501 business.

Original post is from 2007 - I'm also looking for place for one night's dinner in Conway. No real preferences about cuisine or price and would really prefer some type of local place (vs chain type). Any suggestions for Conway? Also, I'd prefer not to drive into Myrtle Beach, if possible. thanks.
