Need a good date spot: mediterranean, lebanese, greek, etc
I'm taking my boyfriend out for his 24th birthday this weekend, and I'm looking for a mediterranean place with a nice date atmosphere (trendy/sexy/not Tizi Melloul, please). Any ideas? Or, any other ideas for a good date spot??
Thanks!!!!

Two restaurants that I feel fit your needs and budget are;
A La Turka
3134 N. Lincoln Ave.
773-935-6101Tasty Turkish Cuisine in a festive atmosphere. Not really trendy but can be sensual and sexy. It's the perfect date place. Get's pretty decent reviews since new ownership.
Raw Bar
3720 N. Clark St.
773-348-7291Very unique atmosphere and menu and piano bar. This place is underrated. Delicious Persian and Egyptian style steak and seafood. Great food and atmosphere for a date with your budget in mind. You can find alligator and ostrich on the menu as well. Great appetizers as well. Stick to the middleastern menu, you won't regret it. The bar area is more trendy and boisterous while the piano bar side is more subdued.

What is your price range? I love Scylla, and it's a great date spot, but I didn't have the money for it when I was 24.
Also, is there a particular neighborhood you are looking for?

re: SuzMiCo
My price range is anything up to $100 on dinner that night. I really want a place that isn't stuffy... something fun would be great! I agree... copperblue (by the look of the website) looked quite tired.
My boyfriend loves Middle Eastern/Med food (I'm Middle Eastern myself, so I want something of good quality!) but we're both funky types. I'm just looking for a place that will leave us both with fun memories, preferably ME/Med but anything else would be great too.

It sounds like Scylla would be a good spot for you. It is in a small house, and has a romantic, but not stuffy atmosphere. Two people can definitely eat there for $100, especially if your alcohol consumption is moderate.
Osteria via Stato is also Mediterranean (mostly Italian), it's loud and less romantic, but the food is good and the atmosphere is lively. If you do the tasting menu, they bring out appetizers and pastas, and you choose an entree, all for $35 per person last I checked.
Andalous Morrocan - much cheaper, BYOB, but a fun, slightly funky atmosphere. The food is really good.

I recommend Scylla, in Wicker Park - www.scyllarestaurant.com
Copperblue, in Lake Point Tower, is another Mediterranean possibility, although I haven't been there yet - www.copperbluechicago.com
