i was thinking about taking my girlfriend out for a fairwell celerbration, so i ask around for restaurant idea. Capo, Tribune, and Raw bar were the idea from the fellow chowhound member. Trust me i still can't decide where to go yet. Well i guess i don't have to think anymore, my girlfriend decide to stay in town for a little longer. yeahhhhh

since she have finals to do at school, so i took my brother out tonight for some catching up, we decide to go restaurant hopping on the 17ave.

first stop, The living room.

we had the beef tartar and some martinis since this is the appertizer stop,

comment: is good, but not great, i think this is the restaurant good for taking your girlfriend out for a late night snacks, (not with your brother) the atmosphere is showing that as well, high chair, lot of candles, couches, very comfortable for hanging out, just not for dining.IMHO
beside i saw a lot of people ordering the foudou set dinner, may be i'll go back next time.

second stop, Cilantro

pizza, pizza and more pizza,

for some reason, i find cilantro looks like a dining room from the outside, but inside kind of look like a bistro set up.

comment: pizza was good, he order the pear pizza with gorgonzola cheese, (doesn't sound too good, but taste amazing) since i am not a blue cheese person, i still had two slice off his plate. and i order the pancetta wrap shrimp, and the tomato basil salad, this is an appertizer style for me. Light on the tummy and good for the soul.

third stop

mercury/ Eight

well, the reason i want to stop by this place because of the salmon, but by the time i look at the menu i was too full to do anymore food, so we moved to the Mercury instead. My brother is 23 years old, i think a young kid at his age can eat alot these days. he order the sea plater and the fries.
sea plater looks funky, three item of fish, (no shell fish of any kind) i was expect to get some kind of oyster or shrimp in order to call that a sea plater right? Taste wise,,,, not bad i like the potatoe chips that comes with the tuna though. a little taste of contrast.
fries,,,,well fries is fries, the dips that come with it make it taste better. key word th DIP...

well there it is, my restaurant night out on the monday night on 17ave

i always wandering what happen if the flames lose this time, is the 17ave go to be the same???
