This story is ABOUT an LA personality. It belongs on the LA Board, not on some geographically ambiguous "Media" board, and the site monitors' continued yanking it from where it belongs to where it emphatically doesn't is gaining them no friends. Jonathon Gold is LA's news first and foremost, everyone else's somewhere WAAaaayyy down the line.

The LA Board is specifically for sharing chow tips on LA, not for discussing LA personalities or other non-chow LA stuff. Thanks for helping us keep our boards focused on the mission of sharing chow tips.

Jeez! Won't you guys reconsider the prioritizing? I would think the local-ness would override the media-ness of this kind of thread.

Regardless of how one feels about this policy, it's easily dealt with. Simply insert a brief note on your local board directing interested L.A. residents to the discussion on the Food News and Media Board. Include a direct link to the topic on the FNMB.

We had a similar situation in Phoenix last week, and the brief note I posted on the SW Board directed interested Phoenicians over to the FNMB, where a lively discussion followed.

Jonathan Gold did some incredible reviews for Gourmet Magazine on New York restaurants. Long and carefully researched, they were a treasure. I would run to newsstands where you could read magazines without paying just to read them. Then, perhaps overwhelmed by the plethora of great food in NY, he moved to LA. But his Pulitzer is of interest to New Yorkers. And to everybody, since I think it's the first prize for a Chowhound.
