Century City Restaurant for bday?

RoniRoni Apr 16, 2007 11:15 AM

I need a restaurant for a small dinner celebration in the Century City area. Nothing too over the top, but something nice for a small family celebration.

Do you have any suggestions?

Not sure what your price range is, but La Cachette is lovely. Very good food, nice setting.

I second La Cachette, but if you don't want to pay that much, you might head east or west to Beverly Hills or Westwood.

In Westwood, I'd recommend the Gardens at Glendon, Palomino, or Napa Valley Grille.

If you head to Beverly Hills, you've got Enoteca Drago, Il Pastaio, Mastro's, Ruth's Chris, Tagine, or The Grill on the Alley. Of course, Spago's there, but if you didn't want to spend on La Cachette...

I got a $20 gift certificate for my bday from Palomino. When you sign up for their emails (which are very infrequent), they'll ask for your birthday. Food is not bad, and I think I recall semi-private like dining areas in the back of the restaurant..

If you aren't up for the cost of La Cachette, (which is a very good restaurant - but pricy) you might consider Carmine's II on Santa Monica Blvd. just a block or so west of Beverly Glen. It's a traditional East Coast red sauce Italian type of place with plenty of choices for everyone.

Upstairs 2. It's not in Century City, but pretty darn close . . .it's right off Olympic on Cotner.
But, if you have to choose Century City, then La Cachette is a great choice. There is also Shamshiri Grill on Westwood Blvd. which is also close - not only great food, but great value.

I second Upstairs 2 (above The Wine House) in West LA. They are only open Wed - Sat, so you may want to call in advance (always 100% full on Sat nights!). http://www.upstairs2.com/

The only thing with our table was that the pace of the food was a bit too fast. I felt a bit rushed since I wanted to eat the hot dishes before they got cold, but they all came at once.

Kinda limited in Century City, but The Breeze Restaurant @ The Hyatt Century Plaza has a pretty nice menu, and the sushi is quite fresh.

Dont' forget the Houston's steakhouse at the mall in Century City.

It might be too casual, but BreadBar has a nice restaurant in the Century City mall. They've got great bread (duh), sandwiches, salads, and desserts. Good food made with really high quality ingredients.

I might recommend Carmines II on SM Blvd west of CC near the McDonalds. Great Italian, and great for small parties. Also a lot of celebs hang out here.
