Yumi, Sea Bright

Four of us dined at Yumi Saturday night. Nick and I had been there several times before. It was the first time for our friends from northwest Jersey. We had a reservation for 7 o'clock. Good thing because it was packed by 7:30. We were served complimentary vegetable tempura. I was looking forward to ordering the lettuce cups but my table mates talked me out of it (oh well, next time). Our server recommended two oyster appetizer specials, both with Kumamoto oysters (one of my faves). Nick had the oyster shooters. He thought they were good but preferred on the half shell, which is how the appetizer special that I had was prepared. The oysters were dressed with a hint of wasabi and green fish eggs, perfectly balanced flavor. We ordered a special roll, the Two River Roll (tuna and whine tuna wrapped in white seaweed w/jalapeno and a light red pepper sauce) and the Shuenn roll (yellowtail, avocado, spicy tuna and salmon tartare, sesame seeds and wasabi-sweet soy glaze). We all loved both. We ordered individual sushi and sashimi, the white tuna and the O-toro being the standouts, both like having a pat of butter on your tongue. The sushi was cut perfectly, not too thin or thick, and the rice was sweet and firm. We were too full to order dessert. The service throughout was friendly and attentive yet not overbearing. A fun relaxed evening out for $175.
Only drawback: Upon entering, the place had faint odor of grease, which I hadn't noticed on previous visits. When we got home, we noticed our clothes smelled of grease.
