Good Restaurant in Midtown

My husband and I will be in NYC in May and we are staying on E 51St and we are looking for a good place to grab dinner on Friday night, but we want to avoid any tourist traps...any cuisine is fine (we are not picky), just nothing outragesously expensive, entrees in the $15-25 range is good.

  1. Check out: Luna Piena. Great Italian food that is a great deal.

    1. Montparnasse, on 51st St., b/t 2nd & 3rd Avs., is a comfortable, pleasant French bistro with good food. They have an excellent value 3-course pre-theater prix-fixe for $22.95. But the a la carte menu is still well within your budget.

Pampano, on 49th St., b/t 2nd & 3rd Avs., serves delicious modern Mexican cuisine with an empahsis on fish and seafood. Good service and attractive surroundings. A bit more expensive than Montparnasse, but still in your given range. Since you will be here in May, when the weather is normally quite lovely (very unlike the hideous weather we are currently experiencing), you may be able to dine on Pampano's charming outdoor terrace.
