lunch in Silver Lake today
I'm coming up from San Diego, and will be in Silver Lake at lunch time. Where to go? Price no issue; no special cuisine sought. Just the most enjoyable place to have a tasty lunch.

I live in Silver Lake and there are no good restaurants there. Just go to the Red Lion on Glendale, have a good draft German beer and some sausages

re: Clare K
I'd have to agree. Blair's is great. Pho Cafe is delicious. Nicky D's has excellent pizza if you eat in (quality of delivery is unreliable). Edendale Grill's bar menu is perfect for a snack at that beautiful bar. I even like El Conquistador when I'm in the mood for kitchy Mexican.

El Caserio
309 N. Virgil Ave. /Silver Lake Blvd. in the strip mall off the 5 way intersection. Really good Ecuadorian/Italian food. My favorite is their Lomo Saltado (beef, onions, tomatoes and french fries on rice) and really good bread with REALLY spicy salsa.›7 Replies-

re: meganinlosfeliz
But the food is sooooo much better at Blair's that putting up with a few service problems, which others have mentioned yet I have yet to see too much of in my 3 visits, more than makes up for the difficiencies of either Dusty's or especially Figaro Cafe, which also suffers from service problems.

re: meganinlosfeliz
Dusty's service is absolutely horrid! I remember numerous threads here on Chowhound about waiting forever to get waited on there, and I've had several experiences there myself. Last time I was there, two other tables walked out because they were so fed up. And the food is just okay.

Blair's, on Rownea, though you'll have to check to see if they are open on Mondays.
More casual: The Coffee Table, on Rowena also. Good sandwiches and salads. Or try Gingergrass for their (not-super-authentic-but-still-great) Vietnamese cuisine.
