Giada or Lidia's new cookbook?

Has anyone bought any of these two books? I was thinking of buying them both, but Giada's is all about pasta. As much as I LOVE pasta, my hips do not! But, if it is good, I will buy.

I have one of Lidia's books, and I do like her, just curious on any comments.

Why not both? I like Lidia because she reminds me of someone who I'd like in my life as a nurturing mother who likes to cook, Giada because I'd like to have her in my life as a...umm.....

I prefer Lidia any day - she's got a much wider repertoire - one more recipe from Giada of fruit with mascarpone on top and I'll scream...

Okay, it's not *completely* just pasta- there are also at least 9 antipasti/ appetizer dishes, 9 sides, and 5 soups. There are also several "basics" recipes, like roasted garlic vinaigrette and red wine vinaigrette. It's a very manageable size of a cookbook- not too overwhelming with tons and tons of recipes. I think I would still recommend if you are looking for a good all-around, you might not want to get this one. It is a very pretty cookbook, of course, but from what I'm seeing, you can get all of the recipes or at least most of them at foodnetwork.com. (As a side note, she was very nice and of course, just as gorgeous in person! I was surprised that she came off as kind of a "rocker chick" and *somewhat* alternative, not quite as elegant and Audrey Hepburn-like as she seems on camera!) See my book below!

Thanks for the post! I met her at a B&N when she did her last book tour. She's so tiny isn't she? Cute and pretty. I think I will order the book now. I also think I will get Lidia's. I just won't count calories when it comes to Lidia's recipes!! :)

I find that books such as Giadia's, with such a narrow focus do not get referred to as much in my house...that said, if the food at Lydia's restaurant in Pittsburgh(horrible just last week)is any representation....do not by that book either

I find that I don't look at the pasta cookbooks I have that much and look more at the books that have more main course recipes. While the pasta one may be fun to look at, I find you just don't need a recipe to come up with crative pasta dishes.
