Steak in western suburbs
A friend of mine recently ate an Italian restaurant in the western suburbs that featured great steaks. I am taking another friend out for dinner next week to celebrate his birthday and I would love to locate that restaurant so that I can make a reservation. The best my friend can do is to tell me that she thinks it was in Oak Brook or Oak Brook Terrace. I looked on Zagats and Metromix but can't seem to find it. Can anyone help me? Thanks..

I bet it was Vic's, but I agree with mookiejg and would go to Morton's or Capital Grille.

Your friend may have visited Vic"s Classic Italian Steakhouse that is on 22nd Sreet, just west of Oakbrook Mall. I eat steak in the Oakbrook, Oakbrook Terrace, Lombard, and Westchester area quite often and feel there are better choices for a great steak dinner. I would recommend Magnum's, Morton's, Capital Grille, Wildfire as a notch above Vic's.

I'd even say Mon Ami Gabi's steaks are better than Vic's...
The "atmosphere" at Vic's is sort of ah, interesting -- the Celozzi folks are investors in the place and they add a distinctively "Viagra-ish" feel to place that some females might find , uh, unusual. I suppose some folks go there specifically for that...
