Convection Oven fan

I am trying to decide between a Whirlpool GMC275PRB and Frigidaire GLEB27M9F.

Whirpool is a coventional oven (no fan)
Firgidaire is a convection oven (fan)

I am worried about the fan noise being loud and also the fan running for an hour or more, even after the oven is turned off.

When we have company I do not want my friends to run out of the kitchen because of the sound. I think the Frigidaire has a option to turn the convection option off. (not sure though)

Also to consider:
Whirpool - has controls all in one place
Frigidaire - has separate controls and the microwave is removable - in case it stops working in the combination unit - don't need to replace entire unit - just replace the microwave.

Please help me decide.

  1. I've got the Frigidaire oven where you can turn the convection on and off. That's what the model you posted does. The convection is virtually soundless. The only way you hear it, is if you're standing right next to the oven, almost bending down next to it. It does not run after you turn the oven off, it stops immediately. The fan starts (and runs) only when you've selected to use convection option.
    Hope this helps.

Your prompt reply helps a lot. I am glad to hear from someone who has the same model (Frigidaire GLEB27M9F). Do you like the microwave that comes in this combination too. No problems there either?

Actually, I don't have the same model with the microwave. I have the oven on it's own.
Here is the model I have, it has a lot of the same features as the one you're looking at.
I absolutely love the oven and I use it both with and without the convection feature, depending on what I'm making. So, I apologize for not being able to comment on the microwave. I thought I could at least give you an idea of how quiet the convection is, though.
However, when we redid our kitchen a year ago, we bought all Frigidaire appliances (with the exception of the fridge, which we already had) and I've been very pleased with the quality and performance of everything.
        Good luck with your search!

We recently got the LG true convection oven. Its great!!! I absolutely love having it. On mine you can either use it like a "normal" oven, or the convection. The fan really isnt loud at all. I barely notice it. It also only runs when I am using the convection setting.
In all honesty the vent fan above the stove is 10X's louder than the oven is.
I think that it is definetly worth getting, you will love having it. Makes cooking so much quicker.
