I had an outstanding meal at Quince the other day, i don't remember all the details but here is what i ordered:
corn sformato w/chanterelles - smooth and creamy, with great corn flavor -- excellent
garganelli w/leeks and summer truffle sauce - excellent
pork loin and belly w/shell beans and chard - the loin was tender and delicious and it worked well with the crisp pork belly - excellent
strawberry and sugar plum fritters - the only average point of the meal, the dough on the fritters was a little gummy - average
the service was fine as well
all in all, i have to say that I enjoyed this restaurant very much and it is at least on par with Chez Panisse and Oliveto
We dined at Quince on Saturday evening with another couple--it was our first visit...like you, I had the the corn sfornato & chanterelles a an appetizer; it was remarkable--one of the high points of the meal...service was very professional; our waiter knew the menu well and was very helpful with wine selections...I also recommend it highly...
i'm thrilled to see you give quince some positive words. i really do love this restaurant. it's a consistent sort of good. it's a small gem in this city.
