Pepe's Pizzeria in Fairfield

shared a small white clam pie and a small salami pie with a friend today at pepe's. both pizzas were very good: clams were freshly shucked; garlic plentiful and the crust a joy to view, feel and eat. sauce on the salami pie was sweet from the tomatoes, not additives. the oven imparts a wonderful char that few pizzerias can match. we washed all this goodness down with a few cold morettis.

i had heard that pepe's had gone downhill (the place was less than half-full at 2 p.m.), but if today's meal is any indication then this joint with its royal lineage is well on the path to redemption. service was both pleasant and attentive.

highly recommended.

  1. Pepe's is definately the best pizza in Connecticut if not the Northeast if not America if not the world.

this was the Fairfield branch. i've been told they have the same ovens as the new haven parent. the white clam pie was excellent. made even better by not having to stand on line. it's four hours later and i'm still tasting the crust, garlic and clams. yummm.

About three months since we've been and I'm still tasting it. I dream about Pepe's.

I have been to the Fairfield branch several times myself. I suppose it's ridiculous to ask for a little decor though?

lol! yeah, i feel your pain. still, the white clam pie and a moretti easily trump a green wooden booth, goofy pizza trays, plastic dishes and flatware from the salvation army. i'm going back next month after i tune-up my tastebuds in italy.

I know. The space is truly devoid of even "hole in the wall" charm but for that pizza, I'd eat in a high school cafeteria.

For a seriously CT geographically challenged, can someone share how to get there? We were at Boston Billiards today in Danbury, and the bartender hadn't heard of Pepe's and we couldn't tell her how to get to the Fairfield location.
Is it off of 95 or off of 684???

Here is a link to Mapquest. It's between 24 and 25 off I-95, and nowhere near 684. May have significant flooding today.

Pepe's is great. Better thant he New Haven location.

        2. We had always been pleased with the Fairfield location. However, my husband recently went there and said that the clams were too big. He complained about it via e-mail and they sent him a gift card to make up for it, which I thought was pretty nice service.
