Yummy and KOSHER on South Street in Philadelphia
I went to Mama's Grill yesterday on the 600 block of South Street and wow what a find!
My fallafel platter was large and filling and delish!
I stumbled upon this place as I was walking to Jim's Steaks (NOT kosher!) to go have a (non kosher) steak sandwhich. The smart owners placed a sign on the sidewalk advertising their fallafel as being vegitarian which made me look at the front window. There, in the corner, by the door, I see the word Kosher in both english and hebrew. So I skipped (treif ) Jim's and had a really great meal!
They are open Sunday-Thursday until 9 pm (not sure about Friday or when they open) and closed all day Saturday.

Google is my friend. :) I just googled them and then called. They are supervised by KO. I didn't catch the rabbi's name, sorry. Here is the phone number if you want to call for yourself: 215--922-0300

We were walking by Mama's Vegetarian on 20th Street (the best falafel in town) and there were big signs in the window that they are NOT affiliated with Mama's Grill on south street.

word on the street, from an ex-employee of mama's vegetarian who i keep in touch with, is that there was some type of disagreement between the father and the sons who owned mama's vegetarian. the sons left, and started mama's grill. apparently, things aren't all rosey still based on the sinage at mama's vegetarian. however, no lack of love for the mother as they are both working off a variation of the same brand name, logo, and product (although, in addition to falafel, the son's also offer a kosher shawarma dish.)
