I've been talking and talking about making a red velvet cake, and it has my friend longing for anything with cream cheese frosting in it.

Problem is, I'm in LA and she's in SF.

Has anyone seen any great cream cheese frosting lately? She'll settle for it on carrot cake, or even banana bread. It doesn't have to be red velvet.

Hopefully there's somewhere walkable from work in the FiDi (California/Stockton), or driveable from Pleasanton. TIA!

Just Desserts does a couple of cakes with cream cheese frosting...I believe even a carrot cake...unfortunately they closed the one closest to you in the Embarcadero. There's one in the Metreon, though.

There were actually cupcakes from Just Desserts with cream cheese frosting at Costco in SF this evening. Of course you have to buy 9 cupcakes. There were at least 2 other cream cheese frosting desserts as well from other bakeries.

Check that Mexican coke bottle. They have changed the formula to HFCS in some areas of Mexico.

I like Just Desserts cream cheese frosting too.

I was at Citizen Cupcake on March 31st...
I remembered a posting on chowhound proclaiming the bliss of old Coke made with sugar versus HFCS and if someone were going back to Mexico to bring back a case, etc....
Therefore I checked the bottle and it said made in mexico... and checked the ingredient listing and... yes.. it said sugar.... =)

Destination Baking Co. in San Francisco makes an excellent carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. I really like this bakery and highly recommend it for other items like their fabulous fruit tarts, pies, cupcakes, etc.
