Dinner in Crown Point/Merrillville Area

I need a casual dinner rec for this Saturday for 6 of us. Someplace we can get in without waiting too long. Any ethnicity, must serve alcohol!

  1. I would recommend lucrezia cafe in Crown Point, IN Italian pretty casual but the staff is really helpful. Merrillville there is an irish restaurant inside the star plaza that is darn good...if you wanna walk in and sit down I would highly recommend reservations at both.

Thanks for the great rec. I had debated between Teibel's in Schererville or Lucrezia's. Most of our group was staying in Crown Point so we ended up at Lucrezia's. DH pointed out right away on their menu they said that they had been on Check Please (actually their Chesterton location) and then I remembered seeing it. Our group of 9 loved it. They don't take reservations, but we didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes at 6:30 on a Saturday. DH and I split the perfectly cooked pan fried scallops in lemon cream sauce to start. Our friends had the stuffed portobello (stuffed with smoked chicken in a saffron sauce I believe) and the huge bruschetta. Both got raves. I had the rigatoni w/smoked chicken, portobellos and sun dried tomatoes. It was a little heavy on the tomatoes, but otherwise excellent. DH had the salmon fettucine alfredo, also a hit. Other choices in our group were the stuffed chicken breast, pork chop and stuffed eggplant. All reportedly very good. For dessert DH and I split this monstrosity (in a good way) called a "zuccotto". It was a dome of chocolate sponge cake filled with white chocolate mousse and pistachios, served with 2 sauces, raspberry and chocolate cream. Our friends got the tiramisu, poppy seed cheesecake and the stuffed strawberries (stuffed w/mascarpone cheese). The service was very attentive. An excellent time was had by all! I just wish it wasn't over 2 hours away from where I live!

    2. You'll find lots of recommendations for that area in the Chicago Area board, more so than on the Midwest board.

This topic, in particular, has plenty of suitable recommendations:
