Quiet resto recs??

Hi fellow Chowhounds!

I have a friend visiting from out of town next week & am planning a dinner out with a small group (mid-week) to catch up.

Here's the challenge - I need to find a fun, casual resto, (downtown, plateau & NDG are all possibilities) that doesn't get too loud -my friend is visually impaired & it is very hard for him to follow conversations when there is too much noise. As I tend to favour loud, rowdy restos (APdC, l'Express, Chez Doval...), I could really use your help!

I'm yet to try it for dinner, but I've had a great experience with brunch at Truffert, Bisro de Christophe on Laurier East near Byblos. They have a 3 course table d'hôte for $22 every night and the menu changes regurlarly. The wine list is short but well chosen and the place is not too loud.

Fun, casual and quiet don't really go hand in hand, but i would suggest a place like Les Infidèles. It's small and discreet. The acoustics are good. The food is very good. And it's BYOW so you won't break the bank.

True, my requirements do seem a bit at odds, don't they?
By quiet I mean has tables where you aren't forced to hear every other conversation in the place, but not necessarily intimate.
Thanks for the suggestion, I haven't been to Les Infidèles yet, the menu looks great.
