6 Days in LA and Santa Barbara
I'll be in LA for 2 days, then Santa Barbara for 2 days, and then back to LA for two days. It's been a while since I've been to LA, and I'm interested in eating well throughout the trip. Here's what I'm looking for: 1) 2 upscale dinners in LA (thinking Providence and Josie but open to any suggestions as I've never been to either), 2) 2 lunch or brunch places in Santa Barbara 3) Some kick-arse, can't-miss mexican food in LA (i know it's there) 4) a great seafood place. Thanks for all the input, and I look forward to the responses.
1) Yes, since you haven't been to either, Providence and Josie. Providence for seafood, Josie for fresh farmer's market fare. Of course, there are tons of other upscale places we adore, but that would just make your decision all the more complicated...
3) Others are more apt at recommending Mexican food in LA, but one that always bears approval is Babita.
4) for more upscale, it would've been Providence, or it could be Water Grill, Ocean Ave. Seafood, The Lobster. for much less upscale, as in the sandy beach at your toes and a killer sunset view, Duke's, Paradise Cove Beach Cafe, Malibu Seafood, or Neptune's Nest.
Folks, we ask that you keep your responses focused on L.A. in this thread.
chucktowneater has another thread on the California board for the Santa Barbara segment of the trip. Please respond here if you'd like to comment on the SB chow.
