Porky's BBq
After reading so much about Porky's BBQ in Inglewood, I went to day with my hubby. We had both the bbq and the Golden Bird Fried Chicken. Prices and portions were decent and the service was not bad. That said we were very disappointed in the food. We got bbq beef ribs which looked good and big and were falling off the bones, but they were mostly all fat, the flavor was okay. The fried chicken looked good but also full of grease. Additionally we got onion rings as our side, and it too was full of grease that we just left them, and we love onion rings. We were very disappointed, like Phillips better for bbq, and honey's for chicken.

I read a review somewhere that mentioned how the service seems to be better when the owner is there. We've been there both when she was there and when she wasn't, and it did seem like they're more on the ball when she is there. The owner is very nice, very service oriented but when she isn't there they seem a bit slower. However, it was nothng to complain about, just a small difference we noticed.

Okay, I'll bite, so to speak. I've been to Porky's several times and overall I still say that their Golden Bird chicken is the best I've had, but yes it can be greasy at times. The last time I went I think it had been under the lamp a bit too long because it wasn't as good as it usually is, but I'd take this over KFC for sure any day, and over Roscoe's as well. As for the ribs, I haven't had the beef ribs but the pork ribs are very good. Not as good as Phillips, but still considering the variety they serve at Porky's (all of it bad for you, haha), I'm a fan of theirs.

I've been 3 times....I wasn't really impressed with the food to come back. It filled a need for BBQ....thought the sauce was a tad on the sweet side for my palate and the food just didn't blow me out of the water enough to want to make me return.
but the last time I went it took me 20 minutes to get my meal, which is just crazy for food that's essentially already cooked (pulled pork). not even busy......No explanation, I asked several times and they just kept on saying to hold on....so, I don't go even though it is fairly close and convienient to go to for me, personally.
