Large table in Westchester or near by Conn. [moved from Manhattan board]
I must plan a 70th Birthday for my father and need ideas for a fabulous but not too stuffy restaurant for 15 people. Money is not an issue. Any ideas? I have called Blue Hill which is an option but they don't seat over 8 in the main room. Help!!!!

I have been to and thrown such parties myself... My brother's 40th party was at Blue Hill and we only had 15 guests, I would ask for Danielle, she was very kind and helpful and we were able to make it happen, maybe their policies have changed since.
Other suggestions where we have experienced great parties with ambience (not too stuffy) /great food:
Crabtree Kittelhouse
Castle at Tarrytown (Equus)
American Bistro
Bakals (formerly Heathecoate Tavern)
Lusardi's
Willet House
Ruby's
L'Escale in CTGood Luck!

re: larud9233
Have been there twice, for my birthday and a pre-holiday with my dad and stepmom. Both were wonderful occasions - and very good food. One of my favs, but I've only lived in Westchester for 8 years, so I've not tried everything YET! FYI, it's actually in Banksville, part of Armonk, not in Bedford.
Enjoy...

I would recommend La Panetiere in Rye. They are very accomodating to large parties, the service is as immpecable as the food but they also are understanding when you want to celebrate and be left alone a little. Especially if price is not the issue, then I think you should go for what will be your best meal. Blue Hill isn't much of a family birthday place in my opinion either. Everyone will find something they like at La Panetiere and they have delicous amuse-bouche's and desserts, too...now I want to go back!! We did my parent's wedding anniversary party there in December.

Contact Blue Hill again, as I went to a luncheon there last spring and we had 18-20 people there in a private room, out behind the main dining room.
You might also try Peter Pratt's Inn in Yorktown Heights... we've had a few good meals there, and the ambiance is nice, too.

I agree, try Ruby's. been there many of times for work and enjoy the seafood very much. They have a private backroom that we usually sit at on work functions that handle 15. Perhaps try Fox Island Seafood House (F.I.S.H.), Sonora, Willet House or Pacifico's all located in port chester
