The Black Cow - Hamilton
going 2nyt. haven't been in years. still a good burger? any recent visits/thoughts?

still a nice place. solid bartending. surprised by a very limited by the glass list and a rather pedestrian drink special menu. had the burger. good quality meat, a nice char and cooked just 'slightly' past my requested MR. fries were very good. the offered mustard was French's, a little sad. the tomato had no business being there, way under ripe and gritty.
the place was very clean as were the restrooms.
the crowd was your basic bob-cut, tweed jacket, yuppy w/o being too stuffy about it types.
liked it a lot and will be back.

re: srgoodman
they had one bank of taps by the window that had about ten taps and another set of four by the service bar with two repeats on that set.
that said; their speed rack was quite impressive with a lotta top shelf stuff in the well. they also have an extensive selection of bourbons and scotches. i guess they like their stuff good, simple and straight.

They have great burgers! Other dishes are good as well though. Def. a good choice...even for the area (which is totally void of any sort of restaurants.)

Steve- I used to love that place. Very different from the "corporate" N-port location. Can you please report back on your experience. Thank you.

I've had the burgers from the Newburyport location and thought they were pretty tasty, but nothing special. I'd put The Black Cow in the same class as Burtons Grill that was recently discussed. Kind of pricey for average food, corporate-feeling, maybe a little better service with The Black Cow.
