JV taco shop in San Diego. SO BOMB

theres this little taco shop in san diego called JV taco shop located on moreno Dr. (where the 163 and the 8 freeways meet). it had the most authentic mexican food i have ever had on this side of the border!
the spicy jack chiken quesadilla was so good. the chicken is nice and tender and they grill the outside of the quesadilla in the spicy jack sauce so the tortilla is crispy and spicy with tons of flavor

the surf and turf burrito is by far the best but its a little expencive (7 bucks). but its huge! i measured it from my elbow to my wrist. they double wrap it and it has carne asada, rice, sour creme, guacamole, salsa and hell of a lot of shrimp. i got mine without rice though so they put extra carne asada in it. they have lime and hot sauce on the side. i couldnt finish it in one sitting but i took it home and it still made good leftovers. if you live in san diego or anywhere near USD its definately somewhere you want to try.

oh ya, i must warn you that everytime ive been there, ive seen cops eating there so make sure your not riding dirty when you show up!!

JVs is to authentic Mexican what Phil's is to authentic BBQ (meaning, not very ). Even if it is VERY gringoized, they do make a pretty mean burrito. And it's true, the cops do love to eat there.

must be CHP - the SD Area HQ is right near there.

That Surf and Turf burrito sounds good - but I think you'd definitely have to be "riding dirty" to finish it! :-)

riding dirty usually implies uh coming around with a gun or drugs.. so i have no idea how that helps you finish a burrito =P

Where is it exactly? The 8 and 163 meet in Mission Valley, an area which I am quite familar on all sides, and I've never seen this place.

Did you mean Morena Boulevard? That's a bit away, near where the 5 meets the 8.

It's on Morena Blvd, just after the split between Morena and W. Morena Blvd (if you're heading south on Morena). Driving south on Morena, you'll go left at the split and it'll be on your right.

Their Sonoran Quesadilla (Grilled chicken, bacon, guac and cheese) is pretty killer and at least *was* pretty cheap, if they still make it. Easily enough for two normal-appetite people.
