Golden Garden Cafe - Shadow Hills

I saw an ad for this place in the Daily News. they were advertising "In the "Back East" Style. Has anyone been? Is it any good, and is it really like the chinese food back east. Can I possibly hope for dark east coast style fried rice?

thanks
LisaN

It is AMAZING. Lots of yummy dishes there. I love the decorating as well, golden walls with black and red accents. You get a few choices of teas to drink and they will let you taste them. Their egg rolls are unbelievable. Big portions to share and take home for yummy-goodness the next day!

This is possibly the best Chinese restaurant in the Valley. It is really like Chinese food back East, but I don't remember Chinese food in NY or PA being this flavorful. It is a great place, nicely decorated. They serve your choice of tea in these lovely, heavy tea pots. They seem to use the fresh, high quality ingredients. The Kung Pao beef is incredible. Orange chicken is the best I've ever had - anywhere, ever. It is a little pricey, though - about $1 to $2 more per entree than we'd normally pay. We have gotten so burnt out on cheap, low quality Chinese food that we gladly pay a small bit more for the kind of quality food this place serves. Another drawback, though, is it's a small restaurant. I heard there was an hour wait last Saturday night. It is worth it, though. People drive from all over to come to this place. Glad it's right in our little neighborhood. :) Oh, and make sure you get their home made almond cookies - they're soft, buttery - a perfect way to end the meal.

This place has been there for over a year and we only recently discovered it. ALL THE WASTED MONTHS! :) I hope they keep their food and service (which is also excellent) consistant. We've been patrons for 3 months. So far, so very good.

Now if only someone would open an high quality traditional INDIAN restaurant nearby.....
