I have friends that want to go to the Minetta tavern in the village and I have not been here. Can anybody tell me if this is a good spot to bring friends? . I know it has been around for a long time. Atmosphere? Food?, Price?, thanks traumachef
I agree with the other posters about the atmosphere at Minetta. It's a living piece of Old New York, the 1940s brought back to life. Scenes from the movie "Joe Gould's Secret" were filmed there, a perfect choice since that's where they actually occured. It's like a film set from 60 years ago. If that type of thing appeals to you and your friends, you should go. If you're looking for cutting edge or trendy, look elsewhere.
The food can range from OK to very good. I've enjoyed various pastas and their chicken piccante. My one seriously subpar meal came when I was with a group and we overwhelmed the kitchen.
