on Everyday italian Giada (sp?) made a pizza rustico. We decided to try it at home - it took forever to make and cook - not a good weeknight meal. It was huge and so dense filled with all that egg and cheese and countless other ingredients we were eating just small slices with salad and eating it for days.
Saw the same episode. I think this is the restaurant site, http://www.peronispizzeria.com ( very slow loading ) which doesn't list the pizza Massimo created. It looked delcious. I think it was called Pizza Rustica.

The authentic 'Pizza Rustica' is actually not really a pizza at all. So dont be confused.
Classically from the Italian regions of Abruzzi and Molise, a true 'Pizza Rustica' is more of a quiche based idea sitting in a pizza-dough like pie crust. Usually filled with beaten eggs, cured pork, various cheeses, hard boiled eggs, spices and sometimes vegetables like rapini or potato.
