Did you try their Sunday Brunch buffet or their weekday lunch buffet? From what I understand, there is a big difference between their weekday lunch buffet, priced at $15 per person, and their seafood dinner buffet, priced at just under $40. Their dinner is an 8 or 9. The lunch may be a better deal but not as elaborate as their dinner buffet.

I like the Sunday buffet at the Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas. It ain't "gourmet," but it has a number of things going for it: (1) fruit-infused vodka shooters -- what could be bad?; (2) excellent house-smoked meats, particularly the brisket; (3) a good selection of salads; (4) decent shellfish -- shrimp, cold and hot crab legs, oysters; (5) a terrific patio, wonderful for a spring or summer day; (6) a strolling mariachi band, and not a bad one. Price is $27 or so, and they start serving at 9; I like to get there relatively early, nibble away at stuff, and read the Sunday paper under an umbrella on the patio.

Perhaps the best buffet lunch is on Sunday's at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, but you will pay about $60 pp for it. Also worth checking out is the Sunday brunch at the Peninsula Hotel also in Beverly Hills. A close second at the Pasadena Ritz Carlton.
