Vik's ... better than ever?

Went there for an early lunch today on our way home from a brief SF visit. I'm not sure if it was the brisk walk around the Berkeley Marina ahead of time, or maybe because we were there early and the food was all very fresh, or if we were just craving chaat after a long winter away from the Bay Area...but I have to say it was as good or better than I remember from any previous visit (and yes, there have been plenty...). We shared the obligatory bhel puri, a masala dosa, batura chole, and an uttapam. Two much food for two...we are still stuffed!
BTW, the place was nearly empty around 11:15 am. We thought maybe everyone was doing other things on Easter Sunday. But by noon it was starting to fill up and people were jockeying for tables. So opening hour (11 am) on Sunday might be a good time to go......
I feel the same way. I went about a month ago and it was stellar, even better than I remember from previous times.
Sigh. makes total sense that it is on top of its game, since I decided to pass on going in order to torment myself watching the Giants. What *was* I thinking?
I suspect it may have been a bit less crowded than ususal. We decided to head out to dinner tonight to atone for passing on a chow-worthy lunch, and reservations seemed a bit more available than normal (per Open Table) for those places that are open.
I agree! I was there to meet a friend about a month ago; it was our first time there in several years, and we were blown away by how consistently good everything was, and as cheap as we remembered it. We went at 11:30 on a weekday and there was no line at all.
