Lotus Garden

We ate at Lotus Garden last night and had a dish that just blew me away it was so fabulous. I don't think it's actually what we ordered, but I 'm really happy that we got it. Kathy knows what we like so I think she took a little liberty with the order and I have to say she did a great job!

From looking at the menu I think it was the Seafood Combination Crispy Fried Egg Noodles (#25 on the lunch menu). Crispy fried egg noodles topped with beautifully tender squid, vegetables, shrimp, and some delicious slices of what seemed from Kathy's description to be fish meatloaf. (Various kinds of whitefish, ground, mixed with some aromatics and binders, then formed into a loaf and sliced.)

No one else at the table wanted to try it at first (kind of looks like tofu), but once I got them to take one taste the stuff was gone before I could even have another bite.

You really do need to try this dish. Hurry!

Sounds like a really good fishcake. Now I'm curious.

LG is next door to Blue Plate (a block north of 29th, by the intersection of Valencia and Mission).

    2. wow! sounds like noodles with gefilte fish! :-) Thanks, I'm on it.....

      1. Reviving this old thread--I passed by Lotus Garden yesterday via Muni, and it was closed, with a sign posted outside saying a fire caused them to shutter temporarily.

Anyone know how long that has been the case? I like Lotus Garden a lot, but they never seemed to hit critical mass in finding a clientele out there.

The fire happened on April 6, 2011. They're currently closed indefinitely. See this link for an article:

Thanks for the link! Yep, I missed that news, and I'm sorry to hear it. Their banh xeo was excellent.

Perhaps this will prompt relocation to a neighborhood with a bigger audience for their cuisine.

They are planning to reopen in the same location. I noted the fire in a separate thread.
