Miele double wall oven

CapeCodChowHound Apr 7, 2007 05:19 PM

Hello fellow hounds,

I'm looking for your experiances with Miele ovens. We're remdeling our kitchen in a few months and thinking about going with Miele. Who has one? What do you like most? What don't you like?

Thanks in advance!

I purchased a single Miele oven last month. I haven't tried every function yet (there are many, all described in the manual) but it roasts killer chicken, keeps an even heat for braises, the temps are infinitely flexible & adjustable & it preheats very quickly. I haven't yet tried the rotisserie, tho, and the broiler is actually pretty good for an electric oven. The folks at gardenweb advised against getting self-clean and I took their advice. Miele's "perfect clean" finish makes clean-up a snap...just a damp soapy sponge & you're done.

I love my Miele cooktop also purchased at the same time as the oven.

Their dishwashers are unsurpassed IME & their customer service (if you ever need it) is superb. Can't recommend this company or its products highly enough.

Check the boards at gardenweb.com for lots of Miele appliance posts & if you have other questions I could answer, please don't hesitate....

      Hi fauchon,

Thank you for sharing your insights and experiances. Glad to hear clean up is easy.

The rotisserie is one of the big draws for me.

      Thank you!

I know I am a little late getting in on this....
I work for a kitchen & bath design firm and use Miele wall ovens every day. These are a new addition to our showroom and have replaced a set of Dacor wall ovens, and for what its worth, I much prefer the Dacor. Things cooked much quicker, the functions were easier to use, IMO they looked much nicer and the temperature seemed more consistant and even.
        just my $.02.
        Good luck!

Interesting...I replaced my Dacor oven/cooktop with Miele & much prefer the Miele. I found the Dacor much slower to preheat, its broiler was wimpy compared to the Miele. As for setting functions, I thought both the Dacor and the Miele easy to use...As for looks, de gustibus....

          Also, just my dos centavos....

            Hi fauchon,

how often do you use the first stage of the broiler versus the first and second stage? Thanks for the added input!

HI CCCH! Not sure what you mean. If you mean the smaller broiler area vs the larger broiler area, so far I've used only the smaller area since I mostly cook just for the two of us. Miele advised me to allow it to preheat for 15 mins before putting in food. I use Bittman's advice & allow my LC ridged grill pan to heat up along with it. Has produced excellent results...Hope this answers your question.

I have to admit, I owned a Dacor double oven for over 9 years without incident, I loved every bit of it. We then moved, chose a Miele double oven due to a color/size issue ... we hated it. We had service out 4 times and just never seemed to have any luck; we simply never liked the thing. In the end, something happened and our Miele was replaced with a new H4890 BP2 double oven and seriously, we cannot say enough about it, this is the oven to have and to own. Perhaps we had a lemon the first time around but the new one today makes every meal turn out wonderful and we finally own and love the oven so many were raving about.

              Hi kitchengirl,

Thanks for your input. What do you mean by the functions were easier to use? How long have you been using them versus the Dacor?

I have been using the Miele since June (used dacor for 2 years prior) and everyone that works with me agrees that the dacor was much better.
I dont find the Miele difficult to use at all so i wouldnt worry about that, just preferred the Dacor.
