Chicken Hainanese Style at Michael's Noodles

Ok, so I was finally able to try the Cross Bridge Noodle Soup at Mandarin Express, and I happened to be reading an issue of Gourmet Traveller Magazine (a gift) and I come across an article about Boned Chicken Hainanese Style.

So it was back to Rockville for me to Michael's Noodles in Travillah Square to try this delicacy. Thanks to dc495 for the tip.

This turns out to be a simple pleasure. Chicken is poached in a broth of ginger and scallion, boned, and served with a splash of soy. Served room temp, with rice cooked from the same broth. Very enjoyable. As this is a legendary street food served around SE Asia, I imagine this may not be the best version in the world, but i was not about to complain.

Also ordered fish with black bean sauce, and this was a very satisfying version.

I coud see myself living in Rockville....

Thanks for this tip Steve. This dish was our staple breakfast meal in the market town near where we were stationed as Peace Corps Volunteers in Thailand in the 1960s. It has proved almost impossible to find a good version here so we are looking forward to trying it.

I'm not sure about living in Rockville, however....:)
